Shannon Rupe - Gray Stone Aviation Advisors

Shannon Rupe, Senior Project Manager

As Senior Project Manager, Shannon Rupe helps optimize our clients’ business aviation organizations through several channels, including Lean Six Sigma-based operations process development, performance benchmarking, visual data analyses, and “right-fit” technology planning.

Additionally, she serves as a systems designer/optimizer and a subject expert on Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) and Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS).

Prior to joining Gray Stone Advisors, Shannon founded her own business aviation consultancy, Vivid Aviation. Using her vast experience as a FAA-licensed commercial pilot and a business aviation manager, she helped manage operations for several large IS-BAO Stage III corporate flight departments, aviation start-ups and single-owner private operations. Additionally, she helped integrate software systems for enhanced trip planning, created visual metrics dashboards to define performance, and redefined international handling to reduce outsourced spend.

For seven years, Shannon worked at Hewlett Packard in San Jose, California. During her last three years at HP, she served as the corporate flight department’s Flight Scheduling & Dispatch Manager.

While at HP, Shannon led aviation allocation and cross-charge programs. She also worked alongside HP’s director of aviation to help strategize and develop department business goals, organization design and financial budgets. She has coordinated executive travel to high-risk areas, with the aid of executive protection and regional security teams. And she maintained flight operations documentation in connection with CBP, DHS, and TSA programs.

Shannon has served on many technology-focused business aviation advisory and dispatch training boards, including the Jeppesen Business Aviation Customer Advisory Board (2013-2016).

Her numerous memberships in aviation-related organizations include the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA); the Northern California Business Aviation Association (NCBAA); Women in Aviation, International (WAI); and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA).

Shannon graduated magna cum laude from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale’s Aviation Management and Flight program. She is a certified flight instructor and FAA-licensed aircraft dispatcher. Additionally, she received Hewlett Packard’s Global Security Services Leading the Way Recognition Award in 2014.
